Subcontractor - Executive coach / trainer:
I am a trainer in leadership and management skills. I have delivered training in coaching skills, time management, team building, Conflict resolution skills, Communication skills, and project management. I have used experience-based learning techniques in some of my training as well as interactive work-shop exercises to enhance engagement.
I also enjoy executive coaching as a modality to empower leaders to discover their own values and aligning themselves with their organisations for a more fulfilling and congruous fit. I have used tools like 360 degree evaluations, to enable leaders to gain a reality check that sets a platform for a way forward. I am able to help leaders to grow in their emotional intelligence levels, which truly enhances their leadership capacity.
I have delivered training within a large organisation where many groups of 10 – 15 employees would rotate (throughout the year) to cover a broad range of organisational topics and then followed up with coaching. I have also worked with individual leaders to aid them in achieving greater effectiveness. The feedback, from individuals and managers was positive with a greater sense of psychological empowerment and new strategies employed for greater success in work units.
I have coached a number of general managers who have had over 100 staff under their direction, helping them to re-prioritise and set effective goals for themselves and their organisations. Feedback from them has been: clearer understanding of the gaps, better work/life balance, clearer focus, more effective time management, and better strategic planning for their teams.
Work Experience:
I started off working as an apprentice where I became a tradesman in the field of auto electrics, working in small workshops and also worked as a tradesman with a large organisation fulfilling large government contracts.
I worked in the States in retail within a bookstore. I eventually worked my way to a supervisory role, and then to a manager of a department within the bookstore, which serviced hundreds of clients with office supplies.
I have worked in the not-for-profit sector for 10 years, where I mentored and developed leaders through casting vision, training through adult learning processes, getting alongside potential leaders and seeing a leadership pipeline system developed. Enabling volunteers to align their personal values with the organisation and helping them discover their strengths and a place to exercise their talents, which caused significant organizational growth.
I have been working in the field of coaching and training for the past 6 years, using the skills I learned in business and not-for-profit areas to combine strategic initiatives with empowering people to achieve their best, while at the same time achieving a healthy work-life balance.
